Last Night
Last night was loads better than last week guys, especially on D. All we need to do know is keep the numbers up and get some full lines. The whole running game we practice with has been no good up to now due to poor attendence by linemen. You know who you are. We need to practice with a 5 man line to get even our simple base plays ironed out i.e. you can't run a power between the guard and tackle if there is no tackle. Its time we all stepped up and put some more effort in, Some people travel for more than a hour each way to get to training every week and some people only turn up when they can be arsed. As I said, good show by the D last night. Still lots of messed up counts by the O (including me!) but we'll sort that out with the press up drills! You can see people getting better every week as well, Flitdawg at DB, Jim for finally hitting hard and luke at DE/DT but if you looked closely you can also see people fading (the normally brutal Dan/jaap combo!).
Anyway lets see it on thursday, remember your not doing your team mates any favours going easy on them in training, when we get to the game we will be too soft if we're not used to having the shit knocked out of us.
We all know what these forms mean, judgment day is coming! Are we better than some gringos from clyde????
Be there on thursday - especially if you play O line!
Lets get good
I'm going to go learn how to count to 3
(To be honest i don't think its fair other teams only have to go up to 2)
That is the longest post i have ever and will ever do!

I'll be there Thursday, but have made the decision to hang my pads up. Too old , knackered ,fat and slow, if i was a horse they'd take me out and shoot me. Anyway i'll do whatever else i can to help.

Re: Last Night
The trouble with the o-line is I doubt there's 5 of us left especially since Butch has decided to ride on the coat tails of the good work the rest of the D do. Jolly was injured last time he played. TJ only appears on thursdays, God knows what has happened to Manford. That leaves me, Marco and whoever else volunteers at the time.

Dan I have too agree we weren't up to scratch last night mate but that was down to me not you
I was rusty as fuck and I'd only missed a week so I take your point entirely about turning up week in week out.
We'll put it right Thursday...that's a challenge to the fuckin' secondary

He bought kit didn't he? So he must be coming back eventually?
Saw him to say hello to once but that's all i've seen of him since before Christmas. The problem is though we won't be able to get much going in terms of blocking if we never get a consistent line. Monday we had a d-lineman at guard as well as a fullback and then me at center. We don't appear to be able to get 5 people together whose primary position is o-line. It's normally 2/3 max and we don't seem to stand a chance of getting 5 registered for our first match/scrimmage.

Re: Last Night
Well the D line need to think that they'll have to come and fill in if the numbers don't show.
Like Dan said we need the linemen to get the plays off!
Dudes we are working better I believe, even with the drops and fumbles. I liked the count drill, I think we need to do that as an Oline. Set up in our positions and do different counts.

Re: Last Night
Well, since I'm arriving late, I'm happy to go O-Line instead of the D-Line I wanted to do originally. I asked Paddy for a number I could use for both (#79) so it won't change my shirt number any and I've ordered both a navy and white jersey through my US friends (well, navy/white and white/navy since there were no plain jerseys in 4XL), so I'm good to play either.
Just one request: Anyone mind if I have a go at a ball-carrying position at least once so I can see what it's like? I know I'll be crap at it, but I just want to see what it's like.

Re: Last Night
Mike you have always been "Too old , knackered ,fat and slow" but you can coach the shit out of O & D lines, you the man!!!
As for Jaap "that's a challenge to the fuckin' secondary" bring it on!!
I agree we need to play with a 5 man O line at training so the O can get used to running there plays, the lads left on D are just going to have to fill in where ever they can for a few weeks, then we can start working on the D line.
As for marcus you will prob have to play both ways & that will get the fitness level up quicker than anything, looking forward to you running the ball but maybe you should pick number 72 "William Perry"
As for poor attendence, I will decide when I come back from Spain next week if I will comit to football full time for the season or continue to cycle??

Re: Last Night
I think all Linemen will have to learn both sides
All WR/DB will learn both sides too.
Likewise LB/RB
I think the majority of players have played both sides with the exception (have i spelt that right?) of the line.
We will be ok for our first game.
As for the first game, watch this space. We may have news soon

Re: Last Night
Lets try:
(stu WR) (TJ/Kev/jolly) (Craig) (Marco C) (Steve/marcus) (Dave) (JaapWR)
(Dan QB)
(Paddy/steve/Kev FB)
(Paddy/Nellie TB)
Any offers for tight end?
Simon? Dave Balliff? Tommy?

Great, we're going to need a new center after Thursday to give Marco time to repair and recuperate.

Re: Last Night
nellie: what you get after a hot curry - a Tight End.
If I could get my speed up, I'd like a shot at TE someday - it'd be more fun than being in the trenches all the time... at least the TE gets to catch once in a while.

Errrrr, I'll give it a go but I'd rather smack folks. It's much more fun maiming a QB than protecting him
