I find the best thing to do it tape up your ankles.

I use electrical tape and tape it up about 4-5 inches from the bottom really tight. It still hurts the next day but ts not too bad while your playing.

The oracle is correct as always, a tight bit of strapping or tape just above the ankle (Achilles) takes the pressure off & helps to prevent shine splints.

Or you could always use the horrible but does work!!! Ten minutes in a cold bath & then a hot shower, your legs have no pain the next day but your bollocks have disappeared up your arse….

This will be a breeze for a big hard football player like you...

All you have to do is put your shins in the water, bollocks saved!

shin splints Empty i feel sorry for you

Post  cumbriandave32 Sun Mar 09, 2008 2:43 pm

had shin splints and it felt like my feet were chopped off and i was running around on stumps on broken glass
i whent to strawbery howe physio in cockermouth as reccomended, she did a deep massage that hurt like fook she told me in my case it was bone rubbing against muscle that had became scarred and my body stopped healing it. she gave me stretch exercises to do to get the blood consentrating in the area

Basicslly everyone told me to tape the area up like paddy says i didnt try that cos it bugged me but for several lads its sorted them out

heres some more solutions
get soem extra padding for your soles lessen the impact to shinns, and when not training get some trainers with the biggest soles you can find i got new balance cheapos and wore them everywhere
and some of those heel pads that glue into boots

but realy rubb the hell out of them before you train and really warm them up before you come down
other than that its lots of rest nd i mean months

i still get pains when i road runn or walk to fast in my work shoes but no where near when it was at its worst stopped me playing for a few weeks

thanks for all your advice i will give them all a go (ill try tommys as a last resort i like my bollocks where the are)
i think what screwed my legs was the 32mile walk i did last year me and a few lads were drunk and signed up for the workington 2 keswick walk and didnt train for it, it was 10hrs of hell..

Phil is sorting it out this week, so we can hopefully get on it next week. Maybe lillyhall again (if they'll have us!)
