Raising funds or the club
We are in the 21st century and cannot take our name (Carlisle Border Reivers) at face value and go around the county and Scottish borders burning villages and robbing cattle to sell for funds, although that could be a normal Saturday night out in Cleator , so we have to come up with ideas to raise capital.
I have a few ideas below but would welcome any feedback.
1 when we are handing out flyers in town centres for recruitment have someone with a bucket for donations.
2 do a fully kitted bag pack in Asda, Tesco, Morrisons etc with a warning on the bucket saying no donation means you get tackled
3 revisit the idea of a sponsor lottery £10/ticket maximum of 500 tickets sold with 3 prizes ie 1st Shirt sponsor, 2nd Helmet sponsor, 3rd pant sponsor.
4 explore the lottery and Sport England funding but I think a youth policy would need to be in place to be successfull.
5 a Sponsored batter Butch day say £1/punch that could be the biggest earner.
6 get Butch to write and record a club anthem and give it away for a donation of £5 or more, this could also be used by the media to get us noticed.
This is just a few ideas but I am sure there could be a lot more.

Re: Raising funds or the club
steve you dont need a youth team for lottery application, you can apply as long as this is a new club with new committee bank account etc
if you recieved an award before for cumbria then they might see this as a non starter. if you never got lotterry funding then it wont make a difference
you can apply for funds to buy kit and safety equipment max 10k every 2 yrs
if you have recieved funding before and they twig that its the same guys but just moved up the road they will expect any kit bought by cumbrian funding to be donated to carlisle, if they think you have profited from cumbria or any individual has profited they can and will audit you and deny further funding
start a cumrian american football organisation, CAFOis the parent org and would include carlisle senior team, x youth team,y junior team and z flag team under its control. you could GET FUNDING FOR essential kit for use for all teams ie stepovers, sheilds balls, bags, cones,s&c etc
then each team within CAFO can apply for individual funding in its own right for safety equipment, ie helmets pads bottom sets etc
i have a good fundraising document from sru if you want a look at it email me hc@edinburghwolves.com

Thanks Big Man
I will pass on the relevant details to Paddy and the guys, I am sure we did not get any funding the last time so we should have a good chanceif we are pointed in the right direction.

Music night type affair.
A music night, maybe ticketed. Butch is the man! There may be more who can chip in to something like that I can sing some. (been in a band 8 years).

What about a Club Shop?
Like this one:

They provide a range of items, and we agree how they are customized. They make them up as orders are placed, no initial outlay for us.
